The nation's military elite is starting to publicly contradict President Barack Obama's assertion that the Islamic State is under control — and their uncharacteristic bucking of the commander-in-chief comes out of a "sense of desperation," Sen. James Inhofe tells
Newsmax TV.
"I don't believe there's been a time in history, not any time since I've been up here or in all my readings of history, that those individuals who are in charge of security of this country work directly with the president and contradict what he says," Inhofe said Thursday on "Newsmax Prime" with J.D. Hayworth.

"It was just the other day the president said 'everything is contained with ISIL right now.' And yet … the secretary of defense and the advice chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, both said 'no, ISIS is not contained.' Well, that's directly contradicting their boss.
It's out of the sense of desperation that they're doing this because we look at the threats that are facing America right now."
Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said unhinged leaders are gunning for the United States.
"We have countries that are led by people that are not all there mentally. Look at North Korea. Our intelligence told us a long time ago that they're developing a weapon that would reach the United States," he said.
"And our intelligence told us way back in 2007 that Iran would have a weapon that would reach the United States in a delivery system by 2015. Well, what year is this? It's 2015. I tell you I got 20 kids and grandkids. I'm genuinely concerned about some really serious attack on our homeland.
"It's going to happen and I don't know when it's going to happen, but we are sitting here right now with a president who admits he doesn't have a strategy for ISIS, he doesn't have a strategy for Syria, a strategy for Iraq."
