President Donald Trump's plan to cut legal immigration to the United States in half over the next decade is a rock-solid idea that will shore up the middle class and boost the economy, Michael Cutler, a former top Immigration and Naturalization Service special agent, told Newsmax TV on Friday.
"I hope it becomes law, I know there's too many politicians on both side of the aisle who are globalist. This isn't the left-right issue . . . This is about globalist versus populist. Donald Trump believes in sovereign borders," Cutler said to Newsmax's JD Hayworth.
"To take the position of being pro-enforcement is not to take a position that's anti-immigrant. We admit more than 1 million lawful immigrants every year, the president says that's too much, let's cut it in half.
"That would still make it, I would believe, the most generous immigration policy, admission policy, of any country on the planet."

Cutler said the bottom line is that American workers have to come first.
"The Labor Department used to run immigration, that's how we built the middle class. When you bring in workers from third-world countries in adequate numbers and they bring with them expectations of third-world wages and working conditions, you turn America into a third-world country," Cutler said.
"We need to reverse the trend, we need to bolster our middle class, which is the heart and soul of America.
"[The middle class] provides that beacon for folks living below the poverty line to know they can aspire and indeed live up to those aspirations and become part of the middle class and be economically successful in America."
