The Islamic State's horrifying threat to execute all disabled kids came as a sickening sucker punch to Sarah Palin.
The former Alaska governor and GOP lightning rod is the mother of a seven-year-old boy who was born with Down Syndrome.
The jihadist group's jaw-dropping vow has made Palin — the vice presidential running mate of John McCain in 2008 — all the more determined to push for the U.S. military to destroy it, she tells
Newsmax TV.
In fact, it’s her Christmas wish.
"ISIS [is] declaring death to children with Down Syndrome. I read that and I kind of got choked up about it," Palin said in an exclusive interview with J.D Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."
"I said to myself something like that is over my dead body will ISIS ever be able to destroy the American way of life, which includes embracing children with special needs like Down Syndrome."
In April 2008 at the age of 43, Palin gave birth to her fifth child, Trig Paxson Van Palin, who had been diagnosed prenatally with Down Syndrome, a genetic abnormality that affects a child's intellectual and physical development.
In a poignant email she sent to friends and relatives after Trig's birth, Palin wrote: "Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this.
"Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world you live in down there on Earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome."
There were cries of outrage this week at reports the Islamic State has issued a fatwa ordering the elimination of children with Down Syndrome and other congenital disabilities. The report brought comparisons to Adolf Hitler’s forced "euthanasia" in which he had some 300,000 disabled persons put to death as part of his goal to create a "master race."
Palin said with the Islamic State’s unthinkable goal in mind, "My Christmas wish would be for all of Americans … to be aware of how evil this death cult is and to be aware though of the hope that we have to defeat the enemy and we can do that. That would be my Christmas wish."
