Rick Ungar, co-host of “Steele & Ungar” on SiriusXM, has mixed feelings about the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling that home-care workers in Illinois do not have to pay dues to public employee unions.
"I'm a union supporter so I'm not entirely happy with the decision because it will have a huge impact on the unions,'' Ungar told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"But at least this one you could see and argue both sides.... There is a reasonable argument that your First Amendment rights are being abridged when you're forced to associate with something you don't want to associate with.
"On the other hand, there's something that we call the freeloader rule in the unions which is allowing people who aren't members but are in the same workplace to get the benefits of union representation and everything that comes with it without having to pay something for it.''
