Boehner to Obama: Do We Have to Fight About Everything?

By    |   Friday, 27 April 2012 03:20 PM EDT

House Speaker John Boehner lamented the fact that most social issues recently, including student-loan debt, have turned into an unnecessary partisan political fight, reports Real Clear Politics.

“ ... We believe that we shouldn’t put students at risk and that we ought to make sure that their interest rates don’t go up. So we developed the short-term policy to solves this problem for the next year while the committee has time to look at a long-term solution to this problem,” Boehner said of the GOP’s proposal.

“Why do people in — why do people insist that we have to have a political fight on something where there is no fight? There is absolutely no fight. People want to politicize this because it’s an election year, but my God, do we have to fight about everything?”

Boehner went on to say that the “war on women” was yet another example of his “colleagues across the aisle” fabricating a non-existent fight for political gain.
