CNN political commentator Angela Rye clashed with a fellow panelist on Monday, calling President Donald Trump "your president."
In a discussion of the revelation that the president's son, Donald Trump Jr., met with a Russian lawyer who offered incriminating evidence on his former opponent Hillary Clinton, former Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston, a Republican and defender of Trump who joined CNN as a contributor earlier this year, said that "nothing came out of" the meeting.
"The reality is that we know that intent absolutely is a problem. Collusion is the word that has been used, but it's intent to conspire, to break a federal election law," Rye replied. "The reality of it is that he went into this meeting, he intended to receive this information."
Host John Berman interjected with a question about why former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort attended the meeting with a "publicist for a Russian pop star," as Kingston said.
The former congressman argued that Manafort, as a seasoned political veteran, "would not have walked out of there with information that he felt was in violation of the law and not done something about it.
"I know that much about Paul Manafort," he added. "He would not have played with uranium, if you don't mind my saying, or anything nuclear like this.
"Do you really think that they would have had five people in a meeting if this was about colluding with Russia?" he asked Rye. "It defies logic."
"There are a lot of things that your president has done to defy logic. Let's at least acknowledge that," she said.
The former congressman responded by saying, "Your president, too, Angela. Your president, too."
To which she replied, "Well, he's your president."
