Democrats have become an "extreme party" dealing in character assassination, bestselling author David Horowitz said.
"In my book 'Big Agenda,' I describe the Democratic Party as a party of hate," Horowitz told Fox Business Network's "Lou Dobbs Tonight." "Anybody who disagrees with them is a racist, sexist, homophobe, Islamaphobe, xenophobe. . . . They are just consumed by their hatred."
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez's recent profanity-laced rant on Republicans is evidence he is "way off the left deep end," Horowitz said.
And in Perez's recent victory, he beat Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., who Horowitz described as the "Bernie Sanders candidate," by only 13 votes.
Dobbs asked how a possible government shutdown could be looming with the GOP controlling the House, Senate, and the Oval Office.
"Republicans march to the tune of their own drummers, unlike the Democrats who March in lockstep," Horowitz said. "So, the Republicans are obstructionist, too."
