The daughter of a New York City man who died after a police chokehold in 2014 bashed Hillary Clinton's campaign Thursday after hacked emails released WikiLeaks showed how Clinton staffers debated Eric Garner's death.
Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric, 43, ripped the campaign on Twitter:
Garner also included posts with links to hacked emails from Clinton campaign manager John Podesta's private account that also showed discussions over how such deaths would be used to push gun control — and Podesta's belief her father's death was justified.
Garner died July 17, 2014, after police approached him for illegally selling loose cigarettes on Staten Island.
New York City Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo used a chokehold to take Garner down after authorities said he resisted arrest.
Garner, who said "I can't breathe" several times as Pantaleo applied the hold, died a short time later.
The incident was caught on video and became a flashpoint in the Black Lives Matter movement.
Pantaleo was not indicted by a state grand jury in the death, but the Justice Department said this week it would pursue federal civil rights charges against the officer. He has remained on desk duty.
Erica Garner supported Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the primary.
