Nancy Pelosi has lost the clout of being speaker of the House, but the Republican Party still can use her to deliver potent political punch lines,
Politico reports. As the GOP’s liberal pinata, Pelosi plays a starring role in Republican TV ads, robocalls, and mail campaigns.
The GOP was able to use Pelosi as a symbol of left-wing policy in its smashing election victories last year. So this year, it’s more of the same.
Pelosi is making a useful target for the National Republican Congressional Committee as it seeks to aid Republican Candidate Jane Corwin in the upcoming special election for a House seat in western New York. An NRCC ad portrays Pelosi as a puppet master, pulling the strings of her marionette, Democratic candidate Kathy Hochul. In another ad, Corwin says, “Why do Kathy Hochul and Nancy Pelosi get along so well?”
