Priebus: Obama Outsourcing Has Cost Hundreds of Millions of Dollars

By    |   Wednesday, 11 July 2012 08:53 PM EDT

The Republican National Committee has fired another salvo in the outsourcing debate, this time in an appeal to donors detailing how President Barack Obama “shipped” the nation’s economic recovery overseas.

“What do Finnish cars, Mexican solar panels and Danish windmills have in common?” an email from RNC chairman Reince Priebus begins. “They were all funded by your tax dollars.

“That's right, taxpayer money, mostly in the form of stimulus funds, ended up in the hands of companies overseas instead of creating jobs here in America,” the email says.

The appeal contains a link to the website “Obamanomics Outsourced,” showing a list of 22 countries from mighty Russia and China to tiny El Salvador and Luxembourg “that benefitted from your hard-earned money.”

The site includes a detailed world map and information on such overseas investments during the Obama administration as the $2.7 billion in loan guarantees that went to finance three green-energy projects by a Spanish company and the nearly half of $2.4 billion in stimulus dollars to support battery production for electric cars that went to two South Korean companies and other foreign operations.

“In 2009, Obama promised the $850 billion stimulus would kick-start our economy and get Americans back in the workforce,” the appeal continues. “Yet, three years later, here we are — with 23 million Americans struggling for work and unemployment still above 8 percent, for a post WWII record 41 straight months.

“Obama shipped the recovery overseas, but it's not too late to get America back on track and Americans back to work,” the email concludes, with an appeal for donations of at least $10.
