New Mexico Republican Gov. Susana Martinez is poised to win re-election, leading Gary King, her likely Democratic challenger, 47 to 42 points, according to
Public Policy Polling.
The survey also found that incumbent Democratic Sen. Tom Udall will likely overcome Allen Weh or David Clements, his potential Republican opponents. Udall leads Weh 53 to 33 points and Clements 55 to 33 points.
Martinez surmounts the strong advantage Democrats have in the state by pulling 24 percent of crossover support from Democrats and carrying independents by close to a 2-to-1 margin.
King looks to be the Democratic nominee with a 20-point lead over his competitors.
Public Policy Polling also found that affiliation among registered voters in New Mexico breaks down as 50 percent Democratic and 28 percent Republican.
