President-elect Donald Trump said President Barack Obama was right to say he could have won a third term if allowed by the Constitution to run again – but Trump disagrees Obama would have beaten him.
Taking to Twitter after hearing Obama's claim in a podcast with former aide David Axelrod, Trump declared:
Trump ran on a promise to reverse much of Obama's agenda, including saying he would bring jobs back to American workers, defeat the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group, repeal and replace most of Obamcare, and stop the flow of illegal immigration.
Obama, speaking to Axelrod, said, "I am confident in this vision, because I'm confident that if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could've mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it."
Many prominent Democrats, including Vice President Joe Biden, have hinted Hillary Clinton did not articulate the Democratic message strongly enough.
"I know that in conversations that I've had with people around the country, even some people who disagreed with me, they would say, 'The vision, the direction that you point towards is the right one,'" Obama said.
