Colorado Democrats could be getting a phone call from the president this week.
President Barack Obama taped an automated phone call asking Democrats to vote for Sen. Michael Bennet in his Aug. 10 primary against Democratic challenger Andrew Romanoff.
Obama says, "Michael may be new to politics, but wherever he has gone he has made a difference." Bennet was appointed to the seat last year.
Bennet's campaign said the calls started Thursday and will go to 464,000 households where affiliated Democrats have received mail-in ballots.
Romanoff has been endorsed by former President Bill Clinton.
Last month, Romanoff and the White House acknowledged that an Obama adviser called Romanoff last year to talk about possible jobs if Romanoff decided not to challenge Bennet. Both sides said there was no formal job offer.
