President Donald Trump "absolutely" wants the "chaos" that has been described in news reports about his young administration, developer and longtime friend Tom Barrack said Tuesday.
"He is the best instinctive manager that I've ever seen," Barrack, who was chairman of the presidential inaugural committee, told host Erin Burnett on CNN's "OutFront." "Different than other people.
"He has this ability of going into a cappuccino down under the foam: let experts deal with the foam — and his perception of what is in the espresso is unbelievably good, and he will let them vie with each other.
"This is Donald Trump at his best."
Further, the president's staff understands this, Barrack said.
"They're not at odds with each other," he said. "They're giving various points of view.
"Everybody is with each other.
"There was no back-stabbing. There was no moaning or groaning about each other."
But the president's rift with the media is very real — and that's good for everyone involved, particularly American voters, Barrack said.
"I tell him every day that I think this is the greatest thing that's ever happened — the greatest thing for journalism, the greatest thing for CNN, Fox News, and Breitbart, and the American people.
"With four billion people in the world, you're not going to get a consensus," he added.
"Everybody is doing their job — and that is a good thing for him."
