Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., labeled President Donald Trump "obstructionist in chief," according to The Hill.
"The president is pointing fingers," Schumer said. "He blames Mitch McConnell for obstruction. He blames the Democrats for obstruction. He's the obstructionist in chief because he can't stick to a position," Schumer said.
His remarks came after Trump signaled his opposition in a Wednesday tweet to a deal put together by Sens. Lamar Alexander R-Tenn., and Patty Murray, D-Wash. That deal is designed to maintain subsidies for health insurance exchanges and temporarily prop up Obamacare, USA Today noted.
On Tuesday, Trump noted Alexander and Murray were "fairly close to a short-term solution," USA Today reported.
But in a speech to the Heritage Foundation later that evening, he said: "I continue to believe Congress must find a solution to the Obamacare mess instead of providing bailout to insurance companies."
Schumer speculated the change in Trump's position was due to opposition from conservatives to the Alexander-Murray deal, The Hill reported. And he added Trump can't "let the hard right run things."
