Sen. Ted Cruz's father, Rafael, has taken on Republicans who refused to back his son's stance on defunding Obamacare in a speech at a Republican dinner outside Denver Friday.
The younger Cruz tried unsuccessfully to prevent the Senate from approving a spending bill that included
allocations for Obamacare.
"What is sad is the RINOs [Republicans in name only] who went running to vote with Harry Reid," Rafael Cruz said, according to a secretly taped recording of the meeting that was
leaked to ColoradoPols.com.
"I know I am in a Republican Party meeting. If you want to throw tomatoes at me, throw tomatoes at me, but unfortunately, you cannot say that the Republican Party is without blame. We have too many RINOs in the Republican Party."
Some of them want to stay in office for years, said Cruz, a pastor who came to the United States from Cuba in the 1950s. "We the people are not stupid. We the people ought to be smart enough to vote them right out of office, or primary them, and put constitutional conservatives in their place."
As for Obamacare, it rations care for the elderly in a most cruel way, Cruz said.
"As a matter of fact, one of the things in Obamacare is that for the elderly, every five years you must have end-of-life counseling," he said. "Translation: suicide counseling."
