A death threat was reportedly taped to the office door of Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., warning if he voted for the Obamacare repeal bill, the author would lose his healthcare and die — and that he would take Heller with him.

Police responded to the GOP senator's office in Las Vegas on Sunday morning after a burglary alarm was triggered, The Nevada Independent reported.

A CBS affiliate first reported a break-in at Heller's office.

In a statement, the Las Vegas Police Department, however, said Heller's office was not burglarized, but a suspect apparently got access illegally to the complex; officials declined to release the contents of the note.

The Independent, citing an unnamed law enforcement source, reported the note was "from someone asserting that he would lose his healthcare if the key senator voted for the repeal bill and that he would die if that happened and would take Heller with him."

The GOP has struggled to solidify support for the legislation, particularly among centrist lawmakers, including Heller, who are concerned over Medicaid cuts and changes that could leave millions without health insurance.

The vote has been delayed as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., continues to recover from eye surgery.
