Comedian Dennis Miller is not in a laughing mood over the state of the country, telling Fox News' Bill O'Reilly on Thursday the zeitgeist of the country has gone too far left to come back.

"I think the ship has sailed," Miller said on "The O'Reilly Factor."

O'Reilly said that might be so, but Supreme Court appointments are vital.

"I was shocked last night when Hillary Clinton actually said to everybody, 'You know what? You can kill the unborn up until the minute they are born.'"

The left believes in cradle to grave entitlement, Miller said, "They just make it hard to get to the cradle."

"Eight years ago Hillary Clinton could never have said that they that would have caused all kinds of outrage in this country," O'Reilly said. "Now they don't care."

O'Reilly said he believes the country can come back as long as Clinton doesn't win and appoint "two more Ruth Bader Ginsburgs."

Miller disagreed, saying the country has become "Lord of the Flies":

"One side or the other has the conch shell, and I expect my skull to be beaten in by it."

He will vote, Miller said, because the troops are fighting for him, but added, "Do I think the ship has sailed? Yeah, I do."
