Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker accomplished "an extraordinary act of political leadership" in beating back the unions in his home state — and he's the only candidate running for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination with "incredibly impressive accomplishments," political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Friday.

Note: Dick Morris is appearing all this week on Newsmax TV discussing the 2016 presidential race, the Republican primary and Hillary's campaign.

"Not just positions, but accomplishments — and that's very important," Morris, who served in the Clinton White House, told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner. "It's unbelievable."

"The defect that Walker has is that he's not used to the national stage," he added. "The difference between a senator and a governor when they run is that a senator has to answer anything, any question anybody asks, whereas a governor can formulate the agenda and stick with it.

"Particularly as the Iran deal and other things move the focus more toward foreign policy, we need to see if Walker can keep abreast in that."

Morris is the co-author of the New York Times best-selling book, "Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation."

Even though Walker is among 15 contenders for the nomination, Morris doesn’t think the primaries are going to lead to any long-term division within the GOP.

"The Republican Party will have a civil war, a bloodletting — the whole bit — and then they'll come together as tight as a pack and work together in the election," he told Berliner.

"I don't think that that animosity carries over.

"The defect, though, is that if there is a groundswell within the Republican Party against [former Florida Gov. Jeb] Bush and then Bush pushes through his nomination anyway using kind of steamroller tactics, that could backfire against Bush in the election.

"But the Democratic and Republican Parties are too dug in on opposite sides of no man's land in their trenches — not in the last analysis to be very united," Morris said.
