Ohio Gov. John Kasich dealt a blow to at least one rogue electoral college member Tuesday, asking him not to vote for Kasich in the presidential election when the electors convene Dec. 19.
Kasich made the announcement on his Twitter account.
Politico reported Monday that some anti-Donald Trump electors have been in contact with Democrat Hillary Clinton's team about going against the voters' wishes and casting electoral votes for Kasich, who was once a candidate in the crowded Republican presidential field.
Trump won the election over Clinton last month. The 538 electors will meet in their own state capitals in two weeks to officially elect the real estate mogul the next present of the United States.
A Republican elector from Texas announced in a New York Times opinion piece published Monday he will not vote for Trump.
"The election of the next president is not yet a done deal," Christopher Suprun wrote. "Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country. Presidential electors have the legal right and a constitutional duty to vote their conscience."
Suprun went on to urge electors to vote for Kasich.
"Fifteen years ago, I swore an oath to defend my country and Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic," Suprun wrote. "On Dec. 19, I will do it again."
