The Judicial Crisis Network has launched an ad campaign targeting Senate Democrats for questioning the religious views of judicial nominee Amy Coney Barrett, the Washington Examiner is reporting.

The JCN ad focuses on Sens. Dianne Feinstein of California and Dick Durbin of Illinois. It highlights the two and says Democrats attacked Barrett, President Donald Trump's nominee for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, on the basis on her Catholic faith during a hearing last week.

"Liberal Democrats attacking Amy Coney Barrett, a judicial nominee with sterling credentials and bipartisan support, just for being Catholic," the narrator says in the ad. "That's right. The message from Senate Democrats: Catholics need not apply.

"Their hypocrisy knows no limits. They attack a woman for her Catholic faith, make it a religious test, while they are afraid to call radical Islam, radical Islam."

And Carrie Severino, the chief counsel and policy director of JCN, said: "This is going to be known as Feinstein's Folly. Her line of questioning reeked of 'No Catholics need apply,' while ignoring Professor Barrett's stellar qualifications, experience and fierce commitment to defending the Constitution."

University of Notre Dame President Rev. John Jenkins and Princeton University President Christopher Eisgruber have written letters objecting to lawmakers' questions about Barrett's faith-driven views, Politico noted.
