Sen. Marco Rubio insisted Sunday the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election proceed because it's "the best thing for America" – and for President Donald Trump.

In an interview on NBC News' "Meet The Press," the Florida Republican said a probe by special counsel Robert Mueller is "going to get the full truth out there."

"I believe that the best thing that can happen for the president, for this administration, is for everything to come out," he said. "And I believe that it will."

In a separate interview Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Rubio said the investigation process also is "the best thing for America."

Rubio conceded Trump "has said he doesn't believe" there was Russian interference during the presidential election — but "almost everybody else does."

"And ultimately, whether he believes it or not, the work's going to move forward," he said, including by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

He also suggested if Trump vetoes congressional sanctions on Russia, "there are sufficient votes in place" to convince him otherwise.

But Rubio defended the president's demand for human rights in Cuba, calling the move in the interest of "national security" and "democracy."

"The absence of those two things leads to migratory pressure on the United States" created by "instability in the Western hemisphere."

He also issued a warning that if a small Senate working group on an Obamacare repeal and replacement measure rushes legislation "straight to the floor on an up or down vote – that would be a problem."

"The Senate rules are not conducive to that sort of action and so again, I think that we need to all kind of stop here and understand no matter what that group works on and produces, it's only a starting position," he told CNN.
