Gingrich: Hard to Know How Deep Clinton-Russia Corruption Goes

(Fox News' "America's Newsroom")

It is difficult to know just how deep the corruption goes in an Obama-era deal that ended with a contract allowing a Russian-owned company to gain ownership of a significant amount of U.S. uranium, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday.

"You have back then-Attorney General Eric Holder who we think probably knew about it," Gingrich told Fox News' "America's Newsroom," and he thinks then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knew, too.

"I have a very simple test for Congress," Gingrich said. "Make the Clinton Foundation publish all of its donations everywhere in the world and publish all their expenditures."

Gingrich said he also wants to know why the FBI was so passive.

"When Bob Mueller was the head of the FBI, you had the current deputy attorney general was, in fact, deeply involved in this," Gingrich said. "The more you learn about this stuff, the sicker it gets, and the clearer it is. We'll have to have a very profound, I think, investigation of the whole thing."

Gingrich said the "reality" behind the scandal is "so much sicker and more twisted and more warped."

"You apparently had the Clintons taking millions of dollars," Gingrich said. "Bill Clinton got $500,000 for one speech. Twice his usual fee. They believe they got $135 million. That number hasn't been verified."

The money, by Russians through a Canadian subsidiary of the Clinton Foundation, while the United States is making a "terrible deal on uranium," he added. "The FBI may have known about it but stopped by the attorney general or somebody."

Gingrich also discussed the revelations that Clinton's presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped finance research leading to a salacious dossier about alleging President Donald Trump's connections with Russians.

"There's the arrogance of the Democrats and Secretary Clinton with all of this in their background deciding they will smear Trump with Russia," Gingrich said. "I mean, the level of arrogance it took, knowing all this was in their background, to turn and try to smear Trump tells you how out of control and how sick the system is and why we talk about it as a swamp."

Gingrich said he has been in Washington a long time, but the growing scandal shows the "system has grown so corrupt in many ways, it is literally, I want to say it's that sick . . . The system has grown so corrupt in many ways it resembles a Third World country."

Former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has commented she did not know about the dossier's financing, and Gingrich commented "her lawyer has trained her very well."

"She has memorized one sentence and repeat that one sentence as long as she can," said Gingrich. "There is something deeper here."
