GOP leaders are aiming to repeal Obamacare by the time President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated Jan. 20.

"They're moving forward with, more or less, the 2015 bill," one source told The Hill, referring to the reconciliation bill Congress introduced in 2015 to repeal the Affordable Care Act. "It is a lot of work, but if you talk to House or Senate leadership, they're telling all their members they should be prepared for a lot of work."

Trump's transition team has reportedly signed off on the plan, a source told The Hill, with GOP leaders planning a vote for the first week of January – even as early as Jan. 5.

Trump pledged during the campaign to repeal and replace Obamacare, but softened his stance after the election by saying he would look to keep the better parts of the bill. He picked Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., a big Obamacare critic, as his Health and Human Services secretary Tuesday.

To pass the bill, lawmakers would bypass the Democrats' ability to filibuster by using a method known as reconciliation, a process which allows budget bills to pass with a simple majority.
