Republican National Committee head Reince Priebus says there may be "consequences" in the future for GOP presidential primary candidates who don't stick with their pledge to support the party's nominee.

In an interview Friday night on Fox News' "Hannity," Priebus agreed that the refusal of four primary contenders to back Trump — Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Jeb Bush, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz — was maddening.

"It was a pledge, and it wasn't just a pledge," he said. "In some cases, it was a data exchange agreement where the candidates received valuable data and information, and in exchange for that information they agreed to support the nominee, whomever he or she was."

"And so I think they should honor the pledges, and I think that our state chairman and our committee people on the committee are going to review this situation, and there may be consequences in the future."

Priebus said he also believes the GOP nominee is bolstering his support among Republicans in general, noting that polling shows Trump having support from GOP voters in the "high 80s."

"I think by the time we get to November, I think he's going to get there [to low 90s percentage support], especially if he continues down this path that he's on," Priebus said. "I think everybody is very pleased with what he's been doing."
