Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server to send and receive classified information as secretary of state can be looked into again if Republican Donald Trump defeats her and becomes president, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani says.

"The national security case against her is so strong that I've convicted people based on 10 percent" of the evidence against Clinton, Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor as well, told the New York delegation breakfast Thursday, according to Politico.

FBI Director James Comey early this month was critical of Clinton's use of the server, saying it might well have been hacked by a hostile actor, but he declined to recommend prosecution, saying no intent was proved during his agency's investigation.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch accepted Comey's recommendation.

"Why wasn’t she prosecuted?" Giuliani said Thursday, echoing the sentiments of many Republicans. "If Donald Trump becomes president, the statute of limitations will not have run…. We can reopen the case. So she's going to be running to try to prevent getting an orange jumpsuit."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, also a former federal prosecutor, laid out the case against Clinton from the Republican National Convention stage in a Tuesday speech in which he repeatedly asked the delegates to pronounce her "Guilty, or not guilty."

The crowd repeatedly shouted "Guilty!" as well as "Lock her up!"
