Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has been one of President-elect Donald Trump's staunchest backers, but he said on his show Tuesday he will not be if Trump becomes a global-warming advocate.
"I'm gonna tell you, the fastest way for me to abandon all this is if they sign on to this," Limbaugh said of the climate-change issue. "I'm just telling you right now, folks, I can't look the other way at that, and I won't. There's no way on earth."
Limbaugh added he is taking a wait-and-see attitude after Trump met with former Vice President Al Gore at Trump Tower in New York on Monday.
Gore has become the face of climate-change advocacy, and speculation abounded he might have swayed Trump's position that global warming is not caused mainly by human activity.
Gore told reporters afterward they had a "very productive conversation" that was a "sincere search for areas of common ground."
Limbaugh said the meeting with Gore, as well as those with many other of Trump's perceived rivals, is "a show."
"A lot of this is, 'Al Gore wants to talk to me? What about? Climate? Fine. Bring him in. I'll talk to him,'" Limbaugh said. "'Yes, sir, yes, sir, three bags full,' Gore leaves, thinks he's mattered."
