Seventy-one percent of voters want lower taxes for middle-class families, a new poll from American First Policies reveals.
Here are the highlights of the survey, according to a report by the Washington Examiner:
- 72 percent say the tax code is "archaic."
- 68 percent say they would like a simpler code.
- 61 percent say they remain dissatisfied with the current tax system.
Those taking the survey used words like "simpler," and "streamlined" to describe the tax code they would prefer, the Examiner noted. Most favored a code in which "millions of Americans could file their own taxes using just one sheet of paper."
The results came as President Donald Trump pushes for his own tax reform plan, the website noted. In a speech in Missouri, Trump said cuts were the next stop to promote economic growth.
The poll, conducted Aug. 16-18, surveyed 1,200 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent.
