President Donald Trump fired off two more tweets Sunday morning fanning the flames against those "disrespecting our flag and country" from the "boring" NFL, which should "back" the United States.

Those tweets followed ones from Saturday, which responded to the firestorm against comments at a Republican rally in Alabama on Friday night that stirred up professional athletes and the sports world.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who himself has been unpopular with sports fans at times, had fired back at President Trump, denouncing Trump's demands NFL owners fire those refusing to stand for the American flag and national anthem.

Goodell's statement called the comments "divisive" and said they "demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players."

Goodell's statement, too, did not go without a President Trump response.
