President Donald Trump continued his attacks Attorney General Jeff Sessions Tuesday, saying on Twitter that "Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes" and intelligence leakers.

The early-morning tweet bolsters reports that Trump is looking to replace Sessions, who as an early Trump supporter.

It built on a tweet the president issued moments earlier, suggesting that there were "Ukrainian efforts" to sabotage his campaign and help Democrat rival Clinton.

In another tweet, Trump also attacked the FBI head, Andrew McCabe, by recapping the fact that his wife, Dr. Jill McCabe, accepted $700,000 in political contributions to her unsuccessful 2015 state Senate run by way of  Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Hillary Clinton ally.

The social network flares sent out from the White House followed a pattern that intensified earlier this month with Trump's harsh criticism of Sessions in an interview with The New York Times. Earlier, Trump referred to the attorney general in a tweet as "beleaguered." Trump has been angry that Sessions chose to recuse himself from the government's investigation of Russian meddling in last year's U.S. election.
