Obama Values Political Expediency Over Logic

Looking at the presidency of Barack Obama, what stands out most is his lack of logic.

Obama claims he wants businesses to create jobs. Yet he engages in anti-business rhetoric that discourages companies from expanding and hiring new workers, even attacking the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has three million members.

Obama maintains he is firmly behind the war on terror. But his Justice Department is considering prosecuting former CIA officers who relied on Justice Department approvals in interrogating terrorists, making the entire agency risk-averse.

Obama has ordered a surge in troops in Afghanistan. But he has imposed a deadline of July to begin pulling out, undermining the effort because the Taliban will wait out the U.S., and Afghans feel they have no choice but to side with the Taliban.

Obama and his attorney general extol the virtues of providing constitutional protections to terrorists who are not U.S. citizens by trying them in civilian court in New York. Yet the administration offers no trials for terrorists it kills with Predator strikes at least twice a week.

Obama claims he will shut down the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay because it is a propaganda tool for terrorists. But he proposes to house the same prisoners in another facility that will become just as much a propaganda tool.

Behind this lack of logic is the fact that, as former Attorney General Edwin Meese III recently told me in an interview to run soon on Newsmax, the Obama administration makes decisions for political reasons. Thus, Obama’s decisions are inconsistent because they are based on political expediency.

Obama has so little regard for the American people that he thinks they will not see through this dance.

“People out there are still hurting very badly, and they are still scared,” Obama said at a Democratic fundraiser in Boston last week. “And so part of the reason that our politics seem so tough right now, and facts and science and argument do not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we’re hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared.”

Thus, the reason Republicans, independents, and a growing number of Democrats are repulsed by Obama’s out-of-control spending is that, according to Obama, they are not thinking clearly.

As noted in the Newsmax story "Democrat Talking Heads Privately Diss Obama," even Democrat strategists are so dismayed by Obama that when they shmooze in the green room before TV appearances, they confide that they feel betrayed by him.

In November, as a tidal wave engulfs the Democrats in Congress, we will see that Americans are thinking very clearly indeed.
