Throughout Israel, sirens are being heard warning people that a missile is approaching. Countless rockets have been fired at every region of the country. Thankfully, Israel’s Iron Dome has stopped many of the missiles — but the people of the Jewish State are living under the constant fear of attack.
Is this dispute because Israel supposedly controls “occupied territories”? Then why are missiles being fired at the entire country? And these people were Israel’s “peace partners” a few weeks ago? There must be complete clarity — the Palestinian Arabs seek to destroy the only Jewish State, and Israel is in a war for survival.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rightfully has vowed to continue Operation Protective Edge. As he noted, "No terrorist target in the Gaza Strip is immune but it must be pointed out that Hamas's leaders, commanders and activists are hiding behind the residents of Gaza and they are responsible for any injury to them."
"The difference between us is simple. We develop defensive systems against missiles in order to protect our civilians and they use their civilians to protect their missiles. And this is the entire difference: They fire indiscriminately at our civilians and our cities in order to attack them. Sometimes they hit soldiers by mistake. We strike at their armed forces and sometimes we hit civilians by mistake.
As Israel is being attacked by terrorists, certain world leaders shamefully condemn Israel. They are wrong — and when terrorists hide behind civilians, indeed people will die. No country can allow terrorists to attack indiscriminately — and surely a country the size of New Jersey must act to protect her citizens. And when people die in Gaza, it is Hamas and the terrorists to blame — not Israel.
Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the ideological forefather of Netanyahu’s Likud Party, wrote some years ago prophetic words which should be remembered today: “We were not created in order to teach morals and manners to our enemies. Let them learn these things for themselves. We want to hit back at anybody who harms us. Whoever does not repay a blow by a blow is also incapable of repaying a good deed in kind.
"When we are in a position where — through no fault of our own — physical force dominates, only one question can be asked: What is worse? To continue watching Jews being killed and the conviction grows that our lives are cheap, and among the whole world that we are spineless? . . . The blackest of all characteristics is the tradition of the cheapness of Jewish blood, on the shedding of which there is no prohibition and for which you do not pay.”
This is a battle of a civilized nation against terrorists. The good guys must win.
