GM’s Akerson: We’re Launching 'Top Secret, Revamped' Corvette

General Motors is planning a “real step forward” with a brand-new model of the popular Chevy Corvette, GM Chairman Daniel Akerson tells Newsmax.

In 2009, the company relaunched another classic Chevy, the Camaro, which had gone out of production in 2002. Asked if GM has plans to relaunch any other popular models, Akerson responds: “Not in the intermediate near term, I don’t think so.”

But he adds: “We will come out with a new revamped — I’ve seen it, it’s not been published and it’s under wraps, top secret — the latest Corvette that I think will float a lot of people’s boats.

“It’s a great looking car and a real step forward.”

The Corvette was introduced in 1953, and the current model dates back to 2005.
