A Boeing 777 landing in Birmingham, England, Thursday in the midst of severe storms had to abort two landings after wind forced it to travel almost sideways down the runway.
A YouTube video of the first dramatic attempted landing looked almost as if a toy plane was sliding sideways. The Dubai-based Emirates Airlines plane was
diverted to the Gatwick Airport and landed safely there, the Birmingham Mail said.

A passenger on board the plane, Kevin Miller, told the Mail, “I am never flying again.”
“As we came towards the city, the plane was shaking on the way down. We could see from the in-flight monitors that the plane was drifting to the left as we were landing,” Miller told the Mail, adding that it at least one passenger got sick as the plane bounced all over.
“We were left watching the landing on the front camera monitor. Another engineer from Sydney was sitting next to me and we were just left wondering why the plane seemed to be veering towards the A45,” passenger Muhammad Zulfiqar told the Mail. “When the plane started hovering back up from the landing, we thought the pilot was half-asleep and had lost control!”
The storms that blew through Birmingham with 60 mph winds took down trees and disrupted services across town.
The stress-inducing video of the sideways plane was plastered across the internet with warnings that anyone with a fear of flying shouldn’t watch.
