Attorney Gen. Bondi: Our President Has Failed

By    |   Thursday, 28 June 2012 02:59 PM EDT

The representative system of government “only works when leaders are honest with the people,” Florida Attorney Gen. Pam Bondi Thursday. “The most sobering part of the Supreme Court decision (on Obamacare) is that it set Constitutional limits.”

The Affordable Care Act was pushed through Congress “because our political accountability failed and our president failed.”

Florida took the lead in a 26-state legal challenge to the law.

Throughout the healthcare debate, President Obama argued that the requirement for individuals and businesses to have health insurance was not a tax, but, according to Thursday’s Supreme Court decision, “of course it’s a tax.”

Even though “the president clearly misled the people, Florida absolutely will comply with the law,” said Bondi. “But this now has become political.”

Attention now will turn to the November election. “It’s going to be about the presidential race,” Bondi predicted. “The American people will have their say in (siding with) individual liberty and will support Mitt Romney.”
