The Twitter account of Donald Trump was hacked on Thursday, something the billionaire real estate mogul and television personality angrily confirmed on his feed a short time later.
Trump has good reason to be on the hunt for the "perpetrators" who quickly tweeted the Donald's more than 2 million followers with a snippet of verse from rap superstar Lil' Wayne: "These hoes think they classy? Well that’s the class I’m skippin’."
The verse is from the artist's Will.I.Am track on his "Scream and Shout (Remix)."
The online hackers only managed to fire off the one tweet before the hacking was discovered. It was quickly deleted, though Trump has rarely been known to delete his inflammatory tweets.
Before the Thursday hacking, Trump was on his usual screed, talking up the ratings of his television shows, offering warnings to the right, and commenting on immigration reform.
In recent days, the corporate Twitter accounts of
Burger King and Jeep have been hacked. Some speculated the perpetrators of those hacks had been behind the Trump hacking as well, considering the nature of the tweets.
Twitter itself has been the target of a series of hackings as well. In February, the company announced that hackers may have gained access to the account information of 250,000 of its 200 million active users. At the time, Twitter said it compromised "a very small percentage of our users."
