Eastbound Snowstorm Times It for New Hampshire Primary

The brunt of a snowstorm heading for the east coast will fall on New England, say forecasters, just in time for the New Hampshire primary.

Snow from the storm could last into Tuesday, when New Hampshire's first-in-the nation presidential primary is held. Voters could find themselves in high winds that could gust up to 65 mph in the hardest hit areas and bring power failures. 

The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a blizzard warning for southeast Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and the islands, reported The Associated Press. Up to 18 inches of snow could fall from Monday morning through the evening. Whiteout conditions and 40 mph winds are expected.

The rest of Massachusetts, plus Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut, could see winter storm conditions with four to eight inches of accumulation Monday. The heaviest snowfall is expected during the morning commute through the afternoon.

Public schools in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island, will be closed Monday.

The weather service said New York City could get a couple inches of Snow between Monday and Tuesday night.
