A hiker mom who met Hillary Clinton is reportedly getting death threats after a picture of her and the Democratic presidential nominee that was posted on Facebook went viral.
Margot Gerster, 30, ran into Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton in Chappaqua, New York, on a walking trail just hours after Clinton conceded the presidential election to Donald Trump, according to Chappaqua Daily Voice.
The Westchester woman said Monday that she’s been receiving threats ever since posting the picture of her and Clinton on Facebook, the New York Post noted.
The Post said Gerster declined to go into detail about the threats.
When The Post asked her if she had received threats via phone, mail or email, she replied “Yes,” but said that she didn’t “want to discuss this anymore.”
“This story needs to go away. It got a lot of positive feedback from a lot of people, but I don’t want this to add on to this (blowback), I don’t want to fuel the fire,” she told the Post.
Gerster said she was hiking to “shake off her disappointment” following the election, WTKR reported.
“We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing,” Gerster wrote on Facebook about hiking the trail with her daughters. “As we were leaving, I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was.”
Gerster said she was able to embrace Clinton after taking the picture, telling her “one of my proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her,” WTKR noted.
