President Obama asked constituents to back a "data-driven voter mobilization effort" in a new fundraising email sent by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Friday.
The email raised the specter of the party's digital prowess ahead of this fall's midterm elections, where they stand to lose majority control of the Senate chamber. In 2012, the Obama campaign caught Republicans flat-footed with an unprecedented data-mining operation that helped them mobilize voters, and the effort was such a success that Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus vowed to build a system to rival it.

By mid-2014, the RNC had launched a number of digital initiatives, including RNC Foresight, Beacon, OneData, the GOP Data Center, and the newest addition that ties them all together: GOP Victory 365. The new campaign tool was launched in May, and seeks to establish "a permanent groundgame that is focused on communicating with voters in the field 365 days a year."
GOP.com emphasized the importance of the new tool, noting that, in the past, the party's voter mobilization efforts only began "ramping up six months before an election."
The program's nearly 200 staff in 22 states across the country — over 90 percent of which are in the field instead of D.C. — are critical to Republicans' efforts to upend vulnerable Senate seats held by Democrats this fall.
On Thursday, the DSCC committed $9 million to the re-election campaign of North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan. The pledge is the biggest yet from either party in the North Carolina race, and several publication and pundits interpreted it as a "panic button" moment for Hagan.
Townhall reported that Hagan is in a dead heat with her challenger, Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives Thom Tillis, saying the DSCC wouldn't spend money on the race if it was a surefire win or loss.
That same day, Priebus took to Twitter to showcase Victory 365. He posted a new video that shows the program's rollout, with organizers taking to the streets to mobilize voters as the competition heats up.
