Tiger Woods is partnering with Donald Trump to design a golf course in Dubai.
The 18-hole course is set to open in 2017 at Trump World Golf Club,
according to a statement on Woods’ website. It is part of Trump’s Akoya Oxygen community, a 55-million-square-foot project.
"I can't wait to see this stunning project come to life," Woods said in the statement. "Dubai is fast becoming one of the most influential golfing destinations in the world, both for the professional game and for amateurs looking to enjoy the great weather, great courses and amazing lifestyle.
"We plan to create a distinct and memorable golf course that players of all abilities find enjoyable. I'm looking forward to adding to the great courses of Dubai," he added.
Woods previously planned a golf course in Dubai, but the project stalled in 2010 because of the economy. The first golf course designed by Woods is expected to open this month in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Another course is set to open near Houston in 2015.
After winning 14 major championships, Woods’ golf career has declined since 2009, contributing to a
decline in golf viewership and equipment sales, CNBC reported.
Site preparation has begun on the Trump golf course, which will be built by DAMAC Properties.
"Bringing Tiger Woods to Dubai is a testament to the luxury and quality that can be anticipated at AKOYA Oxygen,” Ziad El Chaar, Managing Director of DAMAC Properties, said in a statement.
