One political side note emerged in an interview with "Parks and Recreation" creator Michael Schur who said the NBC television show had hoped to land Hillary Clinton in a cameo role for the finale, but because it was set in 2017, it perhaps revealed too much of her possible future.
Schur,
in an interview with HitFix.com, reflected on his dream cameos as the hit series came to a close last week, which included the likely Democratic presidential candidate and former secretary of state.
Of a guest star he didn't land, Schur added: "Hillary Clinton, but that became impossible once we jumped to 2017, because we would've had to have answered a question that she probably wouldn't have wanted us to even pose at this point."
The series also wanted to snag another possible 2016 presidential candidate as well, but that never happened either, Schur noted.
"We also wanted Rand Paul to be in the Washington episode, and he agreed, but then bailed at the 11th hour. I think he thought we were making fun of him, or something, which we were not, at all. We were in fact flattering him, by linking him to Ron. I get the sense that maybe interpreting writing and humor is not his strong suit."
The show, which began in 2009 and aired its last episode on Feb. 24, did manage to snag the talents of several well-known lawmakers, among them Sens. Cory Booker, Barbara Boxer, Kirsten Gillibrand, Orrin Hatch, John McCain as well as former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright,
Politico reported, noting the "bipartisan" casting.
The show's star, Amy Poehler, frequently spoofed the former first lady during her stint as a cast member on
"Saturday Night Live."
Clinton, herself, also appeared on the iconic comedy show in 2008 in a skit alongside Poehler where she offered an "editorial response" to an Obama presidential debate, where she uttered the program's famed opening lines, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
Yahoo reported.
"I simply adore Amy's impression of me," Clinton said as Poehler stepped into the scene dressed as Clinton's doppelgänger.
