Sixty-two percent of Americans say most of the people in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico are not getting the help they need to recover, while 32 percent disagree, a new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation reveals.

Here is how the poll breaks down:

  • 38 percent of Republicans surveyed say those in Puerto Rico are not getting the help they need, while 56 percent say they are getting sufficient aid.
  • 80 percent of Democrats say most Puerto Ricans are not getting sufficient help, while 17 percent disagree.
  • 61 percent of independents say those in Puerto Rico are not getting the help they need, while 31 percent say they are.
  • 52 of all those polled say the federal government is not doing enough to restore basic services on the island, while 40 percent disagree.
  • 52 percent say the federal government's response in Puerto Rico has been too slow, while 41 percent say it has been about right.

The poll, conducted Oct. 4-8, surveyed a total of 1,008 people.
