A hate-spewing black-nationalist who works for the Department of Homeland Security and was placed on leave in August for running a website espousing the mass murder of whites has still not been fired, reports said Tuesday.
The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement's deputy press secretary Gillian Christensen said Ayo Kimathi's status has not changed -- and he’s still on leave pending review,
the National Journal reported.
"Mr. Kimathi was placed on administrative leave on August 23. ICE does not condone any type of hateful rhetoric or advocacy of violence of any kind against anyone,"
Christensen said in an email to TheBlaze.
"Every ICE employee is held to the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct. Accusations of misconduct are investigated thoroughly, and, if substantiated, appropriate action is taken," she said.
The Southern Poverty Law Center first exposed Kimathi in August,
prompting a media firestorm that led the DHS to place Kimathi, an ICE procurement officer, on
administrative leave -- with pay -- pending review.
Kimathi, using the online nom de guerre "the Irritated Genie," called for "ethnic cleansing" of "black-skinned Uncle Tom race traitors"
on his website,
which envisions a massive race war on the horizon.
"In order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites — more than our Christian hearts can possibly count," he wrote,
The Wire reports.
In other postings, he warned that whites were trying to "homosexualize" black men in order to make them weaker, and suggested that a woman's primary role in life should be to "keep a strong Black man happy."
He also seemed to hold anti-Semitic views, saying in a Facebook post that his website was under attack from a conspiracy of "zionist smallhats, the Uncle Tom koons," and "the haters," the National Review reported.
Kimathi, who has been at DHS since 2009, reportedly made $115,731 in 2012,
The Government Executive reported Sept. 3.
The DHS received complaints about Kimathi as far back as two years ago.
"Everybody in the office is afraid of him," a former supervisor of Kimathi told the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch.
"This guy is filled with hate," the supervisor said. "People are afraid he will come in with a gun someday and go postal. I am astounded he's employed by the federal government, let alone Homeland Security."
Kimathi's continued employment is "not acceptable," said the SPLC's Josh Glasstetter.
"DHS should be tracking Kimathi, not employing him," Glasstetter told the National Journal. "This isn't a mundane human resources matter or a tricky First Amendment question. DHS should have investigated and fired Kimathi months, or even years, ago."
Kimathi has said his website was merely intended for entertainment.
After a request for comment from the National Journal to the "The Irritated Genie of Soufeese," a reply said: "We will not be making any statements on this unfortunate situation."
