First lady Melania Trump sent a tweet Friday urging those in the path of Hurricane Harvey to be safe.

She said that the whole country is sending "thoughts and prayers" to them.

The hurricane was set to hit land late Friday in the middle of the Texas coast, in Corpus Christi.

Hurricane Harvey gained strength on Friday, potentially becoming the strongest hurricane to hit the U.S. in 12 years.
