The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) plan to hold a conference call with the media Tuesday morning, to discuss ADF’s latest report to Congress alleging waste, abuse, and potential fraud by Planned Parenthood.
ADF attorneys said they prepared the report to aid Congress in its investigation of the nation’s leading abortion provider, according to a press release issued by the two groups late Monday afternoon.
According to the press release, the report includes the following allegations:
• Millions of dollars of waste, abuse, and potential fraud revealed in state and federal audits across the United States;
• Twelve types of potential fraud being committed by Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide, including fraudulent billing and reimbursement by Title XIX agencies for medications or services provided in connection with an abortion, illegal under federal law;
• Billing violations including bills that exceed legally approved cost of contraceptives and Plan B products;
• Inappropriately billing for services that were not medically necessary, billing for multiple initial prenatal care visits, and incorrectly billing initial, follow-up, and postpartum services.
The groups say they plan to demand that Congress continue an investigation initiated by Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., by quickly scheduling a public hearing.
The conference call will be run by Steven H. Aden, senior counsel for Alliance Defense Fund, and Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List
Launched in 1994, ADF is a legal alliance of Christian attorneys and other like-minded organizations that offers help with strategy, training, funding, and litigation.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 360,000 Americans dedicated helping pro-life women in politics.
