Almost three-fourths of Democrats would give up drinking alcohol for the rest of their lives if President Donald Trump could be impeached tomorrow, according to a survey conducted by Detox.net.

The advocacy group for alcohol rehabilitation asked a number of questions about how willing Americans would be to give up drinking alcoholic beverages.

The number of people who said they would give up alcohol for Trump's impeachment varied greatly by political affiliation, according to the study:

  • Democrats: 73.3 percent.
  • Republicans: 17 percent.

If giving up alcohol meant the "media would stop writing negative things about Trump:"

  • Republicans would give it up: 30.6 percent.
  • Democrats would: 6.5 percent.

One question on the Detox.net survey showed the percentages of men and women who would refuse to give up alcohol for some greater good:

Among men:

  • Halt global climate change: 23.4 percent.
  • Give 10 children in another country access to clean drinking water: 35.1 percent.
  • Save the life of one stranger: 36 percent.
  • Discover cure for cancer tomorrow: 7.6 percent.

Among women:

  • Halt global climate change: 17.1 percent.
  • Give 10 children in another country access to clean drinking water: 19.3 percent.
  • Save the life of one stranger: 25.8 percent.
  • Discover the cure for cancer tomorrow: 5.6 percent.

Another question in the Detox.net survey asked what people would rather give up for a month than drinking alcohol:

  • Going to the movies: 65.5 percent.
  • Social media: 50 percent.
  • Coffee: 47.5 percent.
  • Sugar: 37.6 percent.
  • TV: 29.6 percent.

The Detox.net survey published Thursday was held March 17 among 1,013 men and women in the U.S. among active alcohol drinkers, which the study defined as those who have had an alcoholic drink at some point in the past year. The respondents included 58 percent men, 41 percent women, and 1 percent that did not identify their gender, according to the poll report.
