VP Pence to Visit Texas Thursday

Vice President Mike Pence will visit hurricane-ravaged Texas on Thursday, he told supporters during a speech in West Virginia on Wednesday.

Mark Lotter, the vice president's press secretary, also announced the visit on Twitter:

Tonight in West Virginia @VP Pence announced that he and @SecondLady will visit Texas tomorrow.

The death toll for Harvey climbed to 22 Wednesday, as the National Hurricane Center downgraded it to a tropical depression.

Harvey first slammed the Texas coast Friday, eventually dumping more than 50 inches of rain on Houston and neighboring areas.

President Donald Trump visited Corpus Christi and Austin on Tuesday and plans to visit the Lone Star State again Saturday.
