Chelsea Manning ripped the decision by President Donald Trump to ban transgender people from serving in the military.

In a Wednesday tweet, Manning wrote:

Her comments follow Trump's announcement on Twitter:

While serving in the Army, Manning was imprisoned for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks, The Hill noted.

Former President Barack Obama had commuted her sentence.

Manning had become a transgender rights advocate after disclosing in 2013 that she identified as a woman, The Hill said. She eventually received hormone therapy treatment while behind bars.
