Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, said she will not run as a third party candidate if her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination fails.
She made her comments during a Thursday interview on CNN. A clip of the interview was posted to the CNN Politics Twitter account.
“I've ruled that out,” Gabbard said when asked about a possible third-party bid. “I’m going to continue to focus on moving our campaign forward, continuing this grass-roots campaign, continuing to deliver our message to the American people and ask for their support.
The Hill noted Gabbard is one of 10 Democrats vying for the nomination who did not qualify for the third debate, scheduled for Sept. 12. She failed to meet a requirement to have at least 2% support in four approved polls.
Her comments came after Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand dropped out of the Democratic presidential race
