Palin Considers Run for Senate in 2014

The people have spoken, so she's considering it.

Asked by Sean Hannity on his radio show Tuesday about rumors she will seek the Senate seat currently held by Democrat Mark Begich, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin replied, "I've considered it because people have requested me considering it.

"I'm still waiting to see, you know, what the lineup will be and hoping that, there again, there will be some new blood, new energy — not just kind of picking from the same old politicians in the state," Palin said.

So far, fellow Republicans Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and Joe Miller have announced their candidacies. Begich is up for re-election in 2014.

Saying Begich "has got to be replaced," Palin said he "has not done what he has promised to do for the people of Alaska, and that was to represent what it is that the nation needs in terms of energy development and so many other ... development issues that are near and dear to an Alaskan's heart."

Palin was Sen. John McCain's vice presidential running mate in his unsuccessful 2008 White House run. She resigned the governor's office in July 2009, serving a little over two-and-a-half years into her first term. That led to speculation of a presidential bid in 2012, but Palin instead starred in a reality TV show about her life in Alaska and became a Fox News analyst.

She also hinted last week she would be open to forming a new political party  for conservatives disaffected with the Republican party.
